When to go & Weather

You may wonder when is the best time to go to the Maldives. There’s never really a ‘bad’ time to go to the Maldives, which has a wonderful year-round climate – even in the Monsoon season (mid-May–November), It will be still warm, but skies can be cloudy and the humidity is higher during this time. This is the low season, with fewer people and lower prices, with the exception of August.

Low Season (May–Nov)
Storms and rain more likely but weather warm and resorts at their cheapest. Prices rise in August for European summer holidays. Marine life is more varied on the western side of atolls at this time.

Shoulder (Mar–Apr)
Great weather continues until the end of April, when temperatures are at their hottest. The surf season begins in March and continues until October. Prices jump during Easter.

High Season (Dec–Feb)
The Maldives enjoys its best weather. Expect little rain, low humidity and blue skies. Christmas and New Year involve huge price hikes and often minimum stays of 5 days or more.

While diving can be good year-round in the Maldives, it is an agreeable that life on the reef is more varied and visibility better on the western side of the atolls from May to November and from the eastern side of any atoll December to April.
